This is probably a very silly question, but I’m not getting any proper music output from my new Exquis. I plugged in a regular headphone jack into the MIDI out socket, and when I press the Exquis keys, I just hear crackling sounds in the headphones. Should I be using some other hardware?
Hello,
It seems you did not understand how Exquis (and MIDI work): Exquis does not produce sound by itself, it is a controller (for softwares, synthesizers,…), just like a computer keyboard requires a computer and softwares to write text.
MIDI minijack sockets are made to link with synthesizers/softwares via MIDI cables, and GATE/PITCH/MOD outputs are for modular synthesizers (CV)
Yes, I’m very ignorant about the tech - thank you for the explanation. Could you give a sample link to a consumer-level synthesizer that would work here?
You can use sound plug-ins like Surge XT, or Vital to get started with MPE (= expressivity), and/or use our app (dualo.com/en/welcome), you’ll find video tutorials and Help-FAQ page that explains basically everything (from what is MIDI to how to make nice songs)
