Is it possible to control a Yamaha Arius Piano with Exquis

Total MIDI noob here. Is it possible to have the buttons on the Exquis to play notes on a Yamaha Arius YDP-S54B piano through the « USB TO HOST » port on the piano? I have a USB-C to USB-B 2.0 MIDI cable that I have successfully used with some Android MIDI apps and the piano.

Hello,
I don’t think so, this « USB to host » plug seems to be an output. You would be able to use Exquis with it if there were a MIDI input (usually a DIN plug)

I am able to send notes from iOS and Android MIDI apps to the piano through the « USB to Host » port.
Specifically from Musix Pro - Isomorphic MIDI Music Instrument.
The notes I play in the app are played on the piano as if i was playing the note on the piano itself.

Hmmm… in that case maybe it could actually work?
Just wondering if it could power the Exquis enough, in the worst case you would need to use a Y cable to both power Exquis with an external power source (powerbank, USB charger…) and send MIDI data to the piano.

The piano itself does not supply power. I have two different usbc dongles that are both able to power the Exquis and allow an additional usb connection to the piano. When connected this way the piano seems to ignore any key presses on the Exquis.

Here is the MIDI Reference for the piano. How do I configure the Exquis to send messages on the correct channel? The piano does not supply power so I will be using a usb hub to provide power to the Exquis.

This iPad app is able to send midi over USB that is played on the piano.

How do I get the exquis to do the same thing?

Switch to Polyaftertouch mode; follow the user manual (« settings page 2/2 ») : https://dualo.com/download/12779/

I figured out how to change the exquis to polyaftertouch. Unfortunately the piano stays silent.

I found an app that lets me debug midi messages:

I am able to see the raw midi for both the iPad app and the exquis. For whatever reason the piano chooses to ignore the exquis.

I feel like I am so close.
