Mobility at the service of pleasure
There is no secret: the more you practice, the more you improve! That’s why we designed Exquis to be as easy to pick up as it is to carry, letting you play anywhere, anytime. Weighing just 600g, it’s incredibly lightweight and convenient to take everywhere.

However I only see it controlling MacOS. If I have to carry a laptop with it, it’s not very portable. I see also demo’s with an iPhone, but I can’t find any app.
I would like to learn to play this, but for that I just like to be on the couch without too many cables.
Exquis is a controller, so it cannot be fully standalone (like the dualo du-touch S for example).
There are iOS apps of synths (some are MPE like Seaboard 5D, Animoog Z or Mariana) and DAWs (like Garage Band)
the number of MPE apps on iOS/iPadOS is growing. Garage Band has some interesting instruments that can be downloaded additionally. All free of charge, including Garage Band.
A tablet like iPad Pro has decent speakers, and with the Exquis you have a powerful mobile studio with only one cable. For longer sessions one can use a USB hub and a power bank.
This Loopy Pro forum thread has a list of MPE compatible synths and hosts:
The only thing that can make the playing experience a bit hard is the fact that one has to create own presets for these virtual instruments. One has to change Pitch bend range and map CC74, disable velocity or replace with polyphonic aftertouch, and if wanted also map the CC’s of the four encoders. These are rather expert settings, but in this forum there are many knowledgeable people that can help.
Hello, it’s just a controller (no sound engine or sampler inside) but you can use it « standalone » without any computer or phone/tablet involved. You’ll need a synthesizer or a sampler however, and plug it via MIDI to the Exquis. This is the way I use it more often and it’s a good expressive controller for live and studio sessions as well.
I just miss the promised iOS app which could help me to have more options and setup the Exquis without having to bring a computer when playing outside… Let’s hope it will be available in the future!
