Pattycakes

Hi, my name is Pat or Patty. I’m in my mid 40s, been listening to electronic music of all types since the mid to late 90s. I’ve been surrounded by music and musicians my whole life so I naturally embraced the artist inside me and dove right into the production side of electronic music at a relatively young age. I can remember the exact moment I realized that this music was going to play a major role in my life. I was staying up late one night watching MYV when a music video began playing. It was strange, scary, complex, and captivating. I had never heard anything even remotely like it before. That video was Come To Daddy by the eccentric musical anarchist known primarily as Aphex Twin. That song stayed in my head and I HAD to know what this artist’s other records sounded like.

By this point my fate was sealed. I was forever changed by the tremendous range of musical styles this man could create. From there I quickly found the small group of DJs and producers in my hometown and soaked up all the knowledge of the rave community and the essential elements that made up the underground rave scene in the U.S. Since my small hometown didn’t have any venues that catered to the music I craved, I would have to drive with my friends to Atlanta. It was there that we I learned the lingo, the fashion, the local talent, and of course where to find the parties. Parties in old abandoned shopping centers, defunct factories, large fields, anywhere that could host a few hundred people and had running electricity. Those parties created friendships that remain to this day.

Anyways, this isn’t supposed to be an autobiography so I’ll end with this: We are all connected through vibrating frequencies and music is the conduit with which we can connect with the entire universe itself. Don’t let fear keep you from tuning yourself to the frequency of the cosmos. Music is the true universal language.
